My guess is that in this case you were NOT hypnotized. There are a lot of crappy stage hypnotists out there, and there are enough wiling participants who simply fake it as you described. Not all hypnotists are created equal. Even in hypnotherapy, there are massive numbers of hypnotists trained by the national guild of hypnotists. Usually they are poor at what they do. They know how to read scripts. They don't understand how to customize a therapy session. Ericksonian methods are the way to go, in my opinion. Stage hypnotists who understand Erickson's methods are usually much better.
